Yes the earth was formed 4.6 billion years ago. It has been proven scientifically to be around this time and i believe them. It is amazing the world has survived so long without microsoft to help them along. Maybe I should use some of my money to have top scientists build a time machine because seeing it at this time could be fun even if life was not around for a while, and eukaryotes even longer. Since noone else has posted yet i will have to get back on later, but in case i forget which i probably will i will go out on a limb and say chuck norris that is interesting how you helped the world form or something else along those lines that you will most likely say.

Yes, I do believe earth was formed 4.6 billion years ago. Scientists proved this by studying rocks and fossils. They used radiometric dating or nitrogen and uranium dating. Politics was a huge factor in helping the earth to survive this long. And Bill, I am glad you agree with me in the theory that earth was formed 4.6 billion years ago. I was expecting some disagreement like in Politics, but I am glad you did not disagree. And yes, you should use your money to have top scientists build a time machine. I would definitely contribute as well. aww

Ok, think about it. All these scientists believe the Earth was formed 4.6 billion years ago. Who am I to dispute them? I don't have a degree in Earth-time-scaleology. Really. It's on the opening song for the Big Bang Theory. I'm pretty sure that means it MUST be true.

In the middle of a galaxy to large to imagine, there is a single star circled by 8 planets. The star we call the Sun, the third planet we call home, Earth. Earth has been around for 4.6 billion years, and this has been proven by radiometric dating. Mr. Gates I do not believe that we need Microsoft. All we need are great narrators like me and Collin Siedor.

Yes, the Earth was formed 4.6 billion years ago... Scientists estimate of course because that is an approximation, but they have proof using expermints and by closely studying fossils. Although, we don't have to approximate when it comes to British government, which all we know started in 757 with King Offa.

Um, okay. SOoooOOooo science isn't really my thing! Ummm I guess I agree? Like, earth is super old. My great grandma is at least a BILLION years old! So, I agree, because a lot of scientists agree with this statement, and they are a good bit more intelligent than me. Apparently they use radioactive dating to tell the age of fossils.... and that sounds fancy, so it must be true!! I AGREE WITH ALL OF THE SMARTICLES OUT THERE, WHO AGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT<3

Yeah I've got to agree with you on that one Bill. I created the known universe with a round-house kick, which is now refered to simply as the Big Bang. Iagree that the earth has been around for 4.6 Billion years because of radiometric dating, and because I was the one who created it. (With enormous support from god). Mr. Morgan Freeman, I would like you and Collin Siedor to do a large documenatry on this fasinating matter.

Oh my gosh Science is soooo not my thing but I'm pretty sure I remember my past boyfriend, Joe Jonas talking about that. Apparently at the time he was really into Science which I always thought was lame. He said that scientists used radioactive dating or whatever to determine the age of the earth. To be honest, I really don't care as long as a I have a boyfriend by my side. Joe also said that the earth had a mass extinction a while ago which is cool. The whole idea of fighting for life with your lover while the earth is falling apart is kind of hot, like it totally came out of a romance novel! Omgggggggg. But yeah anywaysssss I guess I agree with the scientists.

And gosh Bill Gates! You should invest your money into some flowers or chocolates for your wife instead of scientists! Lets face it, scientists are old anywaysssssss! :---))))))

No, I don't think the earth formed 4.6 billion years ago. As far as scientists know, the oldest rocks are from that long ago, but we do not have evidence that that is EXACTLY when the earth was formed. For all we know, the earth formed 500 trillion years ago. Scientists need more evidence, which we may never get, to know exactly when the earth formed.

But, Britney, the scientists said that the oldest rocks that we have found come from 4.6 billion years ago. That is currently the oldest known date for the formation of the earth, but we cannot know for sure (at least, not right now).

I was educated in law and not in geology, so my opinion is just an opinion. I agree with the idea that Earth was formed 4.6 billion years ago.

Well, the earth certainly wasn't created by magic, so yes, I do agree with that. There are fossils that we have found to support this data and we have non-magic ways to find their ages.

I believe that the earth formed 4.6 billion years ago because there is scientific proof that the earth formed 4.6 billion years ago, such as radioactive dating that traces the earth's formation back to 4.6 billion years. Also I believe that the earth formed 4.6 billion years ago because fossils have been found that supports the fact that the earth formed 4.6 billion years ago.

But what about the radioactive dating that proved that the earth was made 4.6 billion years ago. It certainly was a lot older than 5,000 years, George W. Bush, maybe you shouldn't believe everything that you read.

I agree with the statement that earth was formed 4.6 billion years ago. There are fossils and rocks that prove that earth is at least 4.6 billion years old and that's enough evidence for me. It's based off reason, so I believe it's true.

I totally agree that the Earth formed 4.6 billion years ago. That seems like a long enough time for me. I actually learned that the first fossils and stuff were formed a little over 3 billion years ago, so a billion years for the Earth to cool down is reasonable.

Well I believe the Earth was created 4.6 billion years ago..well that is a big number I dun think I can count that high...thats greater then 10 right? God has created this here Earth n he could make it however old he wanted tho I has heard that there is evidence that lil critter have been roaming round this here place.

From what I've learned on this site, maybe Earth was made 4.6 billion years ago, maybe it's older, I don't know. However though, when it was made, I know it was by Allah, because Allah creates everything and everything comes from Allah.

The world obviously wasn't formed 4.6 billion years ago because it didn't begin until I walked in. The reason it seems like it's been billions of years is because all the ugly people make time go slower. Their hideous faces make you stop and think, check yourself honey. But I guess you're beautiful just the way you are. (At least that's what I say for the cameras.)

Mr. Bush, I agree with you, a world creating itself and filling itself with life just doesn't seem right, so a god creating it makes much more sense and that can be done almost instantly. Whether or not your God or my Allah did it, it seems impossible for such a rare occurrence.

I support the statement that the earth formed 4.6 billion years ago, yet I am not biased as to how the earth formed or what caused this occurrence. To me, it does not matter if the earth resulted from a Solar Nebula, or if it is the work of God or another divine being. Moreover, I might be able to support another age of the earth. I respect the opinions of those who say the earth is many trillions of years old, as well as others who believe the earth's age is only a few millenia.

I agree with John. 4.6 billion years is scientists' best ESTIMATE. Neither radioactive dating nor relative dating is 100% accruate, so we can never be 100% sure. Also, scientists haven't explored every inch of Earth, so there isn't enough evidence that reveals Earth's true age. Keep on learnin, students! I'm going to go be nocturnal and hang out with my bat bffs now. Catch ya later!

Bush, I respect your religious views on when and how the earth was formed. However, I disagree with your statement "You need Jesus". I think that Christians can believe in what they need, but someone who follows a religion other than Christianity (including Atheism) should not be forced to follow Christian beliefs if they do not want to.

I was raised as an Orthodox Christian, yet I now support some Buddhist Beliefs.

I in fact, do believe in the fact that the earth was formed around 4.6 billion years ago. Scientists have proven using fossils. Honestly I'm not the greatest student when it came to science but I do know about fossils. If scientist have proven it with the use of fossils I would have to agree with them. It only makes sense.

And I would have to agree with Steve jobs first post. I like how he added about making a time machine. You should defiantly do that Steve. And let me come along with you. Preferably Steve, I would like to go back to the time when slavery was going on and blacks had no rights. Please work on it my man.

I disagree that this Earth is 4.6 billion years old. I am a Baptist preist therefore I belive that the world is only a little more than 2,000 years old. It would go against my faith if I were to agree with scientist but I have faith that God is leading me and all the others in the right direction with his plan.

I do not agree that the earth was formed 4.6 billion years ago. It is scientifically proven however, that the earth is at least 4.6 billion years old. This does not mean that it cannot be any older than previously stated. The oldest rocks found prove the earth age, but who says that it is not possible to find any older rocks? Scientist need more evidence to prove the earth's age, and even if they find it, how do they know that is correct even then? I think that the earth's age is a very good estimate based on scientific knowledge, but the actual number will ever remain a mystery to humankind.

To base your knowledge and theroies on a book which cannot proven to be true is irrational. Scientific work and understanding is proven by fact, and is a better source to trust.

This is the most disagreeable statement. The truth is that the world was created by our god and that we would reach Nirvana. The world was really created 5000 thousand years ago and no other truths will exist.

Absolutely aggreed, for the earth was proven to in fact have formed 4.6 million years ago. This was actually proved by the study of the fossils and the layers of rocks in the Earth's surface. This also, can be proven by the radiometric system. I somewhat disagree with Confuscius though
