This journey on the HMS Beagle taught me many things. I learned that traits affect the way some species survive and that some traits let certain species produce more offspring than others. My favorite post was when we got to do the online simulation of picking certain traits, this was my favorite post because I learned the most from it. In my opinion it was easy to stay in character because I have many of the same views as my character as well as many of the same opinions involving these topics. My final opinion of the subject of evolution is that it is a true scientific subject that can be proven with facts. Also my name is Pulak Azad.

Dear Diary,

Today is a sad day for the Frank Family. We are ending our voyage on the HSM Beagle and the Nazis are shipping us off to the concentration camps. Did I ever tell you how much I hate them?? Anyway, the trip on the HSM Beagle was extraordinary because I had an opportunity to learn about a lot of cool scientists and their studies on the theories of evolution. Evolution helped me understand how organisms develop over time and how their adaptations aid them in surviving more and producing more offspring with more favorable traits. I still am a strong believer in the theory of evolution and will never stop believing. My favorite post was the “one or another” where we had an opportunity to discuss religion vs. evolution. I had a chance to give my opinion on the topic and support what I believe in… which is EVOLUTION! I had an easy time staying in character because Anne Frank is a mature teenager who was known for her intelligence and writing skills. Plus, all I really had to say was “dear diary” for like all my posts and how much I hate Nazis. Well, anyway I had a fantastic time on the HSM Beagle and hope to do it again!

Love,

Anne

P.S- I’m SIMRAN!

I really enjoyed this "voyage" on the HMS Beagle because I got to learn many things. I learned that certain species will be able to survive in certain environment longer than others because of their adaptations. I also got to learn about the origin of life even though my religion already taught me how life formed in another point of view. My favorite post was the post where we had to post a cartoon picture of ourselves because it was an easy post and it was fun looking at the cartoon pictures of "myself". It was easy for me to stay in my character because my character had a lot of the same views and opinions as I did. My final opinion of evolution is that it is a really interesting theory to look at because of the different opinions about how life formed and how organisms evolved. All in all, I loved spending time on the HMS beagle and I hope we can do it again sometime. ~Jeni

This journey abroad the HMS Beagle was fun. I really enjoyed getting to see first hand others opinions in the supposedly controversial topic of evolution. This journey has taught me some things that (as hard as it is to believe) I didn't know. This includes the revival of extinct species. Overall evolution, to me , is not controversial until it gets to the origin of life, at which point it becomes bull...crap. My favorite post was definitely the cartoon, because it took barley any work on my part as there are many comics on the internet, it was also just plain fun. It was really easy for me to stay in character because we both have certain things in common, such as an infallible, crushing, self confidence, and overwhelmingly pure awesomeness. Signing off...Mohammed Ahsan.

on my journey on this strange and mysterious HMS Beagle, i have learned of some fine things. Although i am not one with the truths of science, i believe that science will rule religion. the knowledge of evolution and the creation of this world. my favorite day on this journey was the 3rd day. on hat day i played a wonderful game on this unknown device. and i was sure i got really large score. It seems easy to stick with him as a character all the through when u know him. As Confucius, my opinion of evolution still stays intact. no matter how much the evidence shows as truth, religion hovers above all. and now i must journey again to Han where i must confront the emperor of his mistakes. And maybe find a man named Benjamin How.

The trip on the HMS Beagle was fun. I had a delightful time reading the other character's posts and seeing how their points of views all reflected on the chosen topic. I learnt that evolution is a topic that not everyone will agree with morally, but there is no denying the scientifically proven facts. Seeing each's others perspectives clearly about evolution is how we get to agree on topics, or at least agree to disagree. It's obvious that animals do adapt to fit better in their environment over many years, but how it all started is up to that person studying evolution. My favortie post was when we got to do the comics. It was funny seeing the jokes of all the characters, and then see who knew enough background information to understand it! I think it wasn't exactly easy staying in character, because we didn't agree on some topics, such as religion, and also I am a pretty dark-minded person that's hard to understand as well. My final view of evolution is, learn the facts, and then decide what is true for yourself. - Heather Johnson

While aboard the HMS beagle i have discovered the many secrets to evolution. It is a cotreversal topic and therefore learning the opinion of others is always interesing. The most entertaining point of my journey was when i laid my eyes upon the beast know as Man-bear-pig. It was entertaining to see what others believed and posted on the diffrent topics. It was also fun to litsen to Chuck Norris's endless arsenal of quotes. It was preety hard to stay in character because Morgan Freeman is so epic.-DanJacob

On this voyage I have learned a lot about evolution. I loved it when i found a new species. Man, that really got me interested. It was very hard to stay in character sometimes because sometimes, i wanted to say things that my character would not have. Plus, me and my character do not always believe and think alike. My final subject on evolution would have to be that in some ways, it makes a lot of sense, but in others, it does not. -The Jason Stribling

The HMS beagle was a great journey. My favorite part was the simulation for evolution. I learned that natural selection and evolution are very important to earths history. It was relativly easy to stay in charcter because i just had to act very rich. I believe evolution is true because i believe science has proved it. Science is very helpful throughout the world and history. - Ben Wakim

My "journey" was really fun, especially looking up my quotes on youtube. Staying in character was fun and pretty easy to stay in character, and act like evolution is a myth and such. I enjoyed trying to figure out who was each character, and looking at evolution from a different perspective. I learned how most individuals have problems with evolution because their religion or beliefs state otherwise, causing some contreversies, but that science has proven natural selection, and that ignoring that is unwise. In order to stay in character I did have to contradict some of my own views, but it was fun to find out all the silly things "I" have said.

HI BILLY MAYS HERE WITH THE FORUM. I HAVE REALLY ENJOYED THIS VOYAGE ON THE HMS BEAGLE. I LEARNED THAT MANY DIFFERENT PEOPLE CAN HAVE DIFFERENT VIEWPOINTS ON DIFFERENT TOPICS, BECAUSE OF THE WAY THEIR BRAINS HAVE EVOLVED ACCORDING TO THERE ENVIROMENT. MY FAVORITE POST WAS WHEN WE MADE OUR OWN SPECIES, BECAUSE I LOVED ADVERTISING IT TO EVERYONE. BUT WAIT! THERES MORE, I, BILLY MAYS, THINK OF EVOLUTION AS JUST AN AMAZING TOOL THAT GOD HIMSELF GAVE US TO SURVIVE AND GET ADAPTATIONS. AND GET THIS! ...I'M REALLY SAPAN DESAI! I guess it was kind of easy to stay in character, because I just had to be myself, but just add a few phrases that Billy Mays used and make the font bigger and in caps! smile

I learned some cool stuff on my "journey"... who knew evolution has shaped the world and continues to do so today? My favorite post was the comic post, because everybody posted such funny comics and cartoons!  Evolution has been proved and it makes sense... therefore my final opinion is that evolution is obviously the answer.

I have to say... my costume was pretty epic for those of you who didn't see it. It was really easy to stay in my character. Johnny Depp and I have some things in common.

Just keep swimming!

Hey guys, it's Azra! My journey on the HMS Beagle was really great. I learned a lot, and I really liked listening to other people's opinions. My favorite post was probably the cartoon post. It was great to see how all the other characters were put into that funny aspect based on something they had done. It really helped me learn more about the characters, even though it was meant to be funny. Staying in character was a little hard for me. I'm not exactly used to being a dude, and I don't really know hoe JB would have reacted to certain situations. Overall, I really did have fun on this forum. It was a great learning and sharing experience. biggrinbiggrin

Hi everyone! I though this forum was a super fun experience and it was very interesting to see hootherness interrupted their character's opinions and protrayed them. My favorite post was probably the cartoon post because some cartoins you guys found were absolutely hilarious. I also really liked the idea of making us reply to eachother sometimes, it was fun to start intellectual conversations while in character. Overall, I really enjoyed being Taylor Swift. I don't like her music at all but it was super fun acting like an obsessive girlfriend half the time, especially at the "big reveal" party. In the end, I believe she does believe in evolution but still holds her ties with God and religion close. It was super fun! See you all in class. -Julianna Brieske

During my voyage on the HMS Beagle, I enjoyed learning other people's perspectives on evolution based on their personalities. My favorite post was the cartoon post because a lot of them were quite funny and showed how others thought about our characters. It proved to be a little difficult to stay in character. This was really because you had to put yourself in the mindset of your character instead of writing down your own opinions. My character's final opinion would be that evolution is true depending on whether or not you believe it, but you should have the option to chose. This is Julia Collins and I had a lot of fun during this project!

Well my journey on HMS Beagle was very interestin.I really learned a lot...er well I think I did going by I didn't know that much to begin with. Most importantly I learned me n boats don't go so well together for long periods of time. This project was fun I got to use this thing called the internet n a computer. My favorite post would be the uh cartoon. They were rather amusin. It was pretty easy to stay in character cept havin that lack of spelling n knowledge about everything. I believe in evolution but I believe that God created this here place n can do what he wants more then a theory...whatever that is.

I learned a lot on my voyage on the HMS Beagle. I got to see the different opinions on evolution and how it applied to other things. My favorite post would be when we created a species and wrote about its adaptations. This post allowed us to apply our knowledge about evolution in a fun way. It was very easy to stay in character since Ayn Rand is very public with her opinions and we've studied her so much in language arts. I also agree with a lot of her opinions, so that also made it easy to stay in character. My character's final opinion of evolution is that it's true because it is based on reason.

My favorite forum post was the Natural Selection Game, mainly because I was interested in what traits permitted the "Creatures" to survive 1 Million Years. I also found the "Cartoon" and "Quotation Station" posts entertaining.

During my "Voyage" I learned many key aspects of Evolution, such as the fact that Humans and Chimpanzees both evolved from a Common Ancestor.

After learning about the Peppered Moths in Manchester, England, I believe that evolution is true. However, I am still unbiased as to how the Earth formed, as evolution only covers how organisms have changed over time.

As you guys remember from the party on Friday, I am actually Timothy Detwiler. It was easy for me to stay in character because I share many of Tesla's interests (Including High Voltage and Electricity).

In this picture, the "Fire" is actually High Voltage!!! biggrinbiggrin

It's Andrew and it was wxciting on this voyage. It was great to see all these different people's views on evolution. I think it was hard for me to stay in charecter because the kind of person Martkn Luther aking Jr was. He was a civil rights activist, graduated college at 15, and he believed in God.I don't have any if those charecteristics do that was my personal challenge. My favorite post is probably this one since we discuss our charecter and their views ok evolution. Ultimately I think he believed in.evolution but not the idea of monkeys turning into humans.

My journey on the HMS Beagle was one of learning, adventure, and discovery. I was forced to see other points of view and express my own. My favorite part was creating a creature and helping it survive for as long as possible in order to see evolution at work. I also liked when we posted the cartoons about our characters. It was fairly simple to stay as John Green because I know a decent amount about him and his view on different subjects, Plus, his view on most subjects is similar to mine. John Green definitely believes that evolution happens and, gasp, is in fact a Christian. He is a fine example of how science and religion can coexist.

The journey on the HMS Beagle has helped me open my eyes to other people's view on evolution. Mine still remain the same (things change over time with the help of Jah, our God). My favorite post is this one because I can kinda sum everything up in this lil' paragraph. Although I love learning about Darwin and his ideas of natural selection. I thought that it was easy to stay in character because the questions that were asked could have multiple answers and views depending on who was answering. And also, Snoop Dogg is a Rastafarian which makes him believe in most things that Christians do that have to do with the world, and how it was created. This allows him to be religious and still believe in science.

I have learned alot aboard the HMS Beagle. Mostly the information I gained helped me to support my opinion. My opinion being that evolution is wrong and we are all people of god. My favorite post was when we got to play the game to see how our species adapted compared to others. That helped me grasp the theory of evolution. Well I guess I'm done - Andy Harris
