For this one, I must disagree with the scientists. If we brought back these dead animals then we could possibly ruin the enviroment that has been changed since these animals died. If you brought back the Tasmanian Tiger, as people call it, then it could destroy an ecosystem by hunting all of the current predators in that changed ecosystem which would cause much worse damage. I believe that we should let life take its course and leave the animals at peace. I am so excited at how much I have learned on this ship.

I must agree, Mr. Bach, defying death is simply an idea that humans like to play with, but we have no idea of the consequences. An organism that has disappeared from the face of the earth, was meant to. If it were to live, it would only be suffering under our harsh ways of life. Of course it is sad that they are forever gone from our lives but our letting them die off in the first place was our mistake, and we have been punished. To bring them back, would only be an act of laziness that we beings tend to acquire. What we must do is tend to the weak and the sick, and bring them to life before we take it away. What is the reasons for killing off a species only to revive it a few hundred years later where it has no time to adapt to their new environment? We would simply be sending them into another sort of torture. Revival of the dead, simply absurd!

Eventually, all organisms and humans will be taken by machines. But, for all the humans out there who want that to happen, go ahead, try it, it won't matter later. Some people may think it is unethical. However, if someone were to get some degree in that type of field, Why stop them? You deal with your own business and I will deal with mine. UNLESS YOU GET IN MY WAY!

I believe that animals should not be brought brack through de-extinction. This could mess up the ecosystem and cause the prey of the newly reborn orgaism to become extinct. The off balance of the ecosystem could greatly affect humans. The only animal who is important enough to be de-extincted after they die out is A CHIMP!!!!!!!!!!

I think it wouldn't be such a good idea. Why? Because putting back animals that are extinct can mess with the balance of the ecosystem. Bringing back more organisms from the extinct list will result in less resources. This will soon cause competition. And then what? Endangered animals will soon be eaten by the "resurrected" extinct animals. Although it's good for science to progress, this is NOT a good idea.

I believe that scientists should not bring back extinct animals, it is against nature. The Fates decided that a species should end so why fight against them. Look what happened to Orpheus when he tried to bring back his wife from the dead, he got close but he couldn't do it.

De-extinction sounds like a good idea to me! Just think about how amazing it would be to see a Wolly Mammoth walking around. Or even a Dodo Bird! It's an incredible thing that can be done. It's a true miracle.

Hehe well i mean, i guess that cool and stuff that they can do that, but i dont think they should bring them back to life. i mean everything happens for a reason right, so they should have no worries hehe. They dont even know if it would work anyways so why waste money on it? They can use that money to buy my albums hehehe ... for real thou, buy them. I love heart.gif ya'll like always! YOUNG MOOLAH BAAABY!

I do not think they should do this. Yes it would be cool to get to see a mammoth, but I think they will just mess up the enviroment even more. Like who knows? These spieces could like not be fit for our enviroment anymore since they lived like 10,000 years ago. They could also be like harmful to use or our enviroment since they have been scientifically engineered and could like hold disease or wipe out another spieces or plant. Overall I just dont think it is a good idea! GO GREEN!!

Um....de-extinction sounds like a horrible idea. If those beast were brought back to life....the ecosystem would be out of control. The food chains....um....would be unequal. All animals....um.....would be affected by this crisis.

Although bringing back some extinct animals sounds cool, I don't really think it's a great idea. I mean just think about it, would you REALLY want to see a woolly mammoth in your backyard? Probably not. Some organisms, if brought back, could be detrimental to other organisms in their habitats because the currently living ones have adapted to an environment not including the extinct ones. The de-extincted ones have the possibility of forcing a different species to become extinct, and then it's one long vicious cycle!

I agree with the fact that we shouldn't waste technology on dead species. The only problem with this statement is why waste time or technology on such petty things as bringing species back to life. There area my other better topics to place our concern on. Either way, species died for a reason. Shouldn't we keep like that?

I don't think de-extinction would be a good idea. It would be dangerous in many ways. Like, if a dodo bird came back to life, it would probably bring back a lot of things we don't want, like diseases from the past. It'll also be dangerous because, face it if you saw an elephant in the street you'd get scared. Now what would you do if you saw a woolly mammoth in the street?!?

HEY BILLY MAYS HERE!! I DON'T THINK THIS WHOLE "DE-EXTINCTION" THING IS SUCH A GOOD IDEA. FIRST OF ALL, IT COULD COMPLETELY RUIN AN ECOSYSTEM. THINK ABOUT IF THEY SOMEHOW USED THIS PROCESS TO BRING BACK THE DINOSAURS. DO YOU KNOW HOW MESSED UP OUR WORLD WOULD BECOME? VERY MESSED UP. SO I THINK SCIENTISTS AND EVERYONE ELSE SHOULD JUST LET ANIMALS AND ECOSYSTEMS DO THEIR OWN THING. IF A SPECIES WANTS TO GO EXTINCT, LET THEM GO EXTINCT!

I disagree with the entire thought of de-extinction. Personally I believe that God has a plan for everything and if a species is extinct then that was God's plan. Honestly, even putting God to the side I still think that it is definatly not the right thing to do. If a species is extinct it is like that for a reason whether you believe it was God's plan or not. De-extinction goes against all of my morals as a person, and i believe it should not be done out of curiosity. Scientists should only resort to it out of necessity.

Although bringing back animals is a cool idea, i do not think we should do it in reality. The species may get out of control and cause a ton of harm. Also, it could disrupt the natural enviremont of other organisms. And lastly, it would totally mess up the flow of foodchains and webs.

This is what I think of extinct species

MaypWgu.gif

Just kidding, but I don't think that trying to re-introduce species into an ecosystem is a very good idea. Scientist can only predict what kind of effect that can have on the other organisms as well as the environment.
The results could ruin the existing species, but if the extinct species were re-introduced in small numbers, and purely for study at first, maybe they could be gradually placed back into a re-creation of what is belived to be thier original habitat, then it might not be soo bad.

Does it matter? I never do would it. Too much money - money that can go to the military. Does matter? Animal dead. Gone. Things die all of the time. Death natural, just that we did it. Do not feel guilty, one less mouth to feed. One less thing to worry about.

I am totally against reviving extinct creatures. Sad to say but God allowed them to ,"move on" for a reason. Plus, there are plenty of endangered animals that are disperate need of help. Also, we are unsure of how the creatures will react to he new enviroment. We have all seen movies where clones go all crazy. I do no think we should take that chance.

This is a truly intriguing idea. Although the concept is very interesting, it is not necessary. What is done is done. We should focus our attention to saving endangered species, not reviving species that have already had their chance. Sure it would be "cool", but is "cool" always what is correct?

Yes, i think we should bring back extinct animals. It make everything so much more fun! I would love to come into the news station riding a wooly mammoth. I mean if we can do it then why not, thats the american mentality right?

I think we should bring back exctinct animals. This would change all sorts of environments. Thus making it harder or easier for me to surrvive in the wild. It would also be cool to kill a wooly mammoth and eat its intestines and then wrap myself up inside its bloody fur to stay warm.

We should, it would better help us learn about the history of our planet, and of evolution. It is not like we will be releasing them into the wild, they will be kept in captivity. We could better understand evolution, and common ancestry, from bringing back extinct animals. Some may say, "They're dead for a reason" but who are you to say whether or not a species should be here or not?

Bringing back those dead animals is a mistake. This could cause a change in current food chains and can change ecosystems. The extinct organism can prey on the same thing as other animals which can cause extinction of the prey, competition, and habibtat interference. It is a good idea but if nature wanted an animal extinct then it should remain that way.

Okay ya it would be cool to bring back all the extinct animals...but really? I've got to go with the guys against it because 1) it would just be plain weird to have dead animals walking around. 2) We've got no idea how they would effect the world all that competition and what not. 3) Like the artical said we have no idea what enviornments to put them in and no idea the effects they would have.

This is the first thing I have disagreed with the scientists on. We shouldn't bring back extinct animals because if we did it would mes up the ecosystem and end up making other animals extinct or make some animal population grow too large. New preditors would be invited to the environment and kill the existing animals. I find that the best animal is still alive and evolving quickly... the car.

I must disagree with species revival. Although I feel that it would be cool to stand next to extinct species reintroducing them to our environment could be dangorus and could cause damage to already living species. Also if we have the ability to bring species back from the dead then shouldn't we put forth more of a effort to helping the species that are already in danger and help them to stay on this earth.

I disagree with the scientists in bringing back organisms. We aren't sure how they'll affect the organisms they are put in. The Earth changes in geological ways for a reason. If we brought predators back, they could kill off the endangered species that we were trying to save. Also, if we bring back some prey, they could get killed off all over again or develop disease.
