I support the statement the Earth formed 4.6 billion years ago. I dont know if this is a trick question, but I dont see whats wrong with it so yeah.. I support it!
I disagree with Oprah (sorry honey bunny). There is no set time of when the Earth was formed because nobody lived that long ago to tell us nor was it ever written down for us to know. Sure, scientists can make estimates but you just don't know because they are just estimates. Do I believe that Earth was formed a long time ago? Yes, but no one can be sure of the exact time.

I believe that God created this earth a long time ago.I do not doubt that scientist have created the estimate of around 4.6 billion years ago, however I am not sure if it is exact. In order to be more precise, the word “about” might be needed to be added. If only Rock and Roll had been around for that long. That would be pretty amazing.
Greetings Elvis!
I absolutely agree with you when you say that God created this earth a long time ago. However, in the Bible, I have gained the understanding that the earth was created 6,000 years ago by God.
I don't really know what Rock and Roll music is, but you seem like a friendly guy, so I will be sure to listen to your music and find out.

Thanks Jane! You are right. The Bible did say that. These are confusing times and I don't know how to explain fossils then. Rock and roll music, if you like it, if you feel it, you can't help but move to it. That's what happens to me. I can't help it.

The earth was formed billions of years ago and the first lifeforms were bacteria which evolved into all of the wildlife we have today, including the crocodile. Whether or not God did it is irrelevant, who are we to say? Crikey, the first crocodiles walked this earth almost 65 million years ago- they had to evolve over long periods of time!
There is no exact proof to when Earth was really formed. However, scientists have approximated that Earth may have been formed 4.6 billion years back by using various methods to date back time. Earth's own evolution digresses into the classification Eras, helping scientists and my students to understand when certain types of animals or plants may have started forming during time periods. Whether it is the destiny God has chose us to live in or all the physical changes in the environment of Earth throughout eras of time, I am blessed to share my power of love and help to others. “The greatest science in the world; in heaven and on earth; is love.”

I only agree to the statement "the earth formed 4.6 billion years ago" because that is all I have ever heard and all the people of today really know about the time of Earth's beginning. Scientists use fossils to help date back to the beginning of time as well as environmental study. However, nothing existed at the very formation of earth to record exactly when it was. All we have is an educated estimate about what has been discovered up to now, but what if a new discovery in the future proves this one wrong? Hmmm...

Wow! I really like your opinion on this and I have to heartily agree! I love how you tied in the quote in the end as well. Very clever (:

The earth formed 4.6 billion years ago and we know that because of the high technomological equipment that the scientists have. They can use radioactive (whatever that is) to find out an approximate date. Being the religious man that I am I think that God placed the first forms of life, such as bacteria, here when he formed the earth from the big bang theory.

God created the Earth 4.6 billion years ago and he introduced the first life forms to the land which were bacteria. Whether or not you believe you that God created the Earth is your choice, but I believe it.
I would have to disagree with this statement. I am a Christian, so I was taught to believe that the earth was formed at the beginning of all time. This statement inclines that it was made later in the universe's lineage.
I fully support that statement that Earth was formed around 4.6 billion years ago due to the Big Bang. Radioative dating has shown evidence such as fossils that support this. According to studies shown, about 46 percent of Americans believe that God created humans 10,000 years ago and they looked exactly the same as they do today; raising a generation of kids that don't believe in evolution and are able to willlingly put all of their faith in translated ancient text will stunt the innovation process of the human race. People who do not believe in evolutoin because it contradicts your "beliefs" need to question their religion.

I must say just because you taught to believe something doesn't mean you are required to believe it.

This is obviously why you're a cartoonist and not a scientist.
I may love to be fun and silly but that doesnt mean I'm not a devoted christian like Ellen or Willie! I believe that god created this earth thousands of years ago, though I dont know the exact age and I think scientist are putting on a show. They may have technology, gadgets, and gizmos galore, but 4.6 billion is just an estimate there is much more to explore. I applaud these scientists who have come up with this age, but I believe only god knows and scientists just know the numbers on the page. God bless you all and have a great night, and make your responses nice we don't need any fights.

I would have to agree with you Cosby boy! This Earth was made by god and not just some accidental big bang toy. "Great minds think alike" is another quote I believe in. We would be great friends and if you don't agree on that it would be a sin!

Business is my forte. However, I do know that the Earth was formed 4.6 billion years ago because there is an exorbitant amount of scientific evidence that leads to this conclusion.

UMMMMMMMMMM..... DUH!!!!! Of course the earth was formed 4.6 billion years ago!!! The sceincebuscus man says so. He said something about radoactive decay, that or nuggets I get those cofused. Anyway why does it mattter when our world was created??? All that matters is that the minecraft world was created approximatly 4 years ago. and the chicken nugget was created 63 years ago. What ele in life matters???
If you want a free t-**** then reply about... the big bag theory(the show of course)... Lava... and still how to spell okepenokie(no one told me how)!!!!
This place that I live called Earth was certainly created 4.6 billion years ago bgood himself. Hey first he made bacteria and it lead to ducks and beavers.
Well if the scientists say that the earth was formed 4.6 billion years ago, and they can can support their estimate with tons of data then it must be true. I have no further proof than them, so who am I to doubt that they are right. Anways I have much better things to do than worry about when the earth was formed such as getting kicked out some Applebee's and watching some of the funniest men on the earth, besides me, on Duck Dynasty with my stuffed dog Baxter.

Hey! You still have some smarts in you brother, and I agree on what you are saying. You better be ready for season 3.
Shaq agrees indeed. That's what it says in the textbooks, so...I guess I have no choice, but to agree.
Well...Shaq out.
Great point Shaq! They must be pretty sure they are right if it got into the textbooks. By the way sorry about the incident at the Staples Center a couple weeks ago. I was just doing my job.

I agree with the statement "the earth was formed 4.6 billion years ago. Scientists have evidence from fossils and the world around us. Scientists are much more educated on that stuff then I am so why should I not believe it? There was also a bunch of different animals before we were even here on the planet and they don't exist anymore.

why wouldn't the earth be formed 4.6 billion years ago? Its written in all the science textbooks today, well i think Jehovah made the world, but I wouldnt doubt the people who devote thier lives to finding the age of organisms and the earth. See my job is to entertain the whole world, not to be a scientist, so i trust that job to the pros.

The fact that the Earth's origin cannot be proven, I don't know what I truly believe.
Wow Ayn, this is the first time in history you don’t seem to have an opinion on a matter.Fossils can be used to tell that the earth is really old.Do you have to find things out for yourself in order for them to be correct?
I mean...I ain't super religious but I believe God made the world. If people be diggin' up 4.6 billion year old fossils, the I guess God made up this earth 4.6 billion years ago.
agreed but one small thing, jehovah made the world

I have to say that I disagree with the statement, “The earth formed 4.6 billion years ago." I am a Christian Anglican and I believe that God created the earth 6,000 years ago. According to Genesis 1:1 and 2, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” This segment in the Bible causes me to believe it was God who created this earth and from what I understand in the Bible, he did so 6,000 years ago.

I fully support the following statement: "Earth was formed 4.6 billion years ago." I fully support any statement which has, what I deem, to be sufficient scientific backing, of which this statement does. I also believe that life evolved of its own doing in its earliest form as single-celled, prokaryotic, bacteria.
To Jane Austen: You are incorrect. God is dead. The evil of man has killed him. He no longer exists.

Word. I really feel ya homie. I mean haters gunna hate. People always trynna put others down but if they got proof from fossils then whateva doe, they can't be makin' all this up!
The Earth was formed some 4.6 billion years ago. The first organisms to inhabit Earth were simple, single-celled organisms. Scientists have dated fossils of some of the first life forms on Earth back to about 4.6 billion years ago. And, somehow over the course of the history of Earth, humans and all the other species have evolved from those first life forms, and gotten much more complex in the process.
